State of Nevada Introduces Revolutionary ‘Alternate Trials’ Program

The State of Nevada has embarked on an innovative, smart approach in freeing up the courts and assisting the community with their legal cases. From July 1 through December 31, 2010, the State of Nevada implemented Alternate Trials, a six-month pilot program designed to help address the massive backlog of cases currently affecting the state’s judicial system.

With the introduction of the Alternate Trials pilot program, litigants will now have the option to have their cases transferred from district court to an alternate trial setting, including cases currently in progress. The same civil rules and procedures governing trials held in the state’s district court system apply in the alternate trial setting.
